Chapter Five - Make A Path; Leave A Trail

through Joy, she loved me and let me be me. In my recovery program, I learn that it’s a program of attraction and not promotion. Drawn by the calling literally means to attract by a strong inner impulse toward a particular course of action, especially when accompanied by conviction of divine influence. I’m more comfortable around authentic people who aren’t trying to be something they’re not.

Joy mentored me in being unique. It was definitely by divine appointment that we met. God knew I needed her in my life, and I wanted it. I really do believe we were meant to meet, and because of that, her mentoring is divine mentoring, something that was meant to be. Who are the people in your life whom you know are meant to be there?

Being unique is a feeling of greatness. This is not to be confused with a psychological need to be important. Being unique, or having this feeling of greatness, is the foundation upon which your dream is built.

This feeling is a spiritual sixth sense, born in your spirit and not in your emotional realm, although emotions can give strength to this sense. Our uniqueness needs to be called out in each one of us. Joy calls this feeling of greatness the “spark of divinity.”

The spark of divinity is that place in our spirit where God meets man and man meets his dream. Some people see their dreams but never see God. Some see God, but never see their dreams. Some see both. Rachel finds she sees God, but not her dream. She holds on to His promises, and this gives her comfort. I believe she is not alone. She is also drawn by God’s call on her life.

The feeling of greatness in our spirit is where our destiny lies. It is the spark that ignites the fire. There would be no life without it. It would be like the hull without the seed. None of us really believes we’re great in ourselves.
