Chapter Five - Make A Path; Leave A Trail

“Oh, mother,” he exclaimed. “I just love this little ship, but I don’t have any place to sail it.” He had his mother’s tenacity. “Mother, can we go to Slope Park and sail it?”

“But honey, we have church tonight,” Joy hesitated, “And it’s already afternoon.” She thought about it. “We would have to go by street car or trolley. I just don’t know if we have the time.”

“Mother, I really need to do this” Joy looked at her little son telling her it was so important to him.

She went for it. They got to Slope Park, Tommy sailed his little ship on that beautiful afternoon, and they returned just in time for church that evening.

It’s the little things in life that count, and Tommy never forgot that moment. One of the greatest leaders in ministry today learned that he was more important to his mother than church was. He understood in his mother’s eyes, and in God’s, he was second to none.

“Uniqueness is a quality that draws out the real person. When you see a person who is unique, you know that is a sign that God is there,” states Joy. Unique is about being authentic.

Authenticity is the reflection of the feeling of greatness. The feeling of greatness is a portion of God’s spirit implanted in every human being. The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the inner depths of his heart (Pr 20:27). It is a little spark of divinity given by God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God ( 1 Co 2:11). This sense or feeling of greatness is something that cannot be stolen or duplicated by anybody

Instead of being like everyone else, the spark of divinity calls you to be unique, unlike anyone else. Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Ph 1:6). We are each born with certain tendencies or
