Chapter Five - Make A Path; Leave A Trail

The same spirit of love or character manifests itself according to the personality carrying it. This is what mentoring is all about.

We are each unique. This is part of God’s great plan. History repeatedly proves that every great person or leader has been unique. Even the seemingly smaller actions are unique. For example, the woman who poured an alabaster box of precious ointment on Jesus’ head as He ate impressed Him. He then declared her action was great: …What this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her (Ma 26:13).

When God made you, He threw the mold away. DNA says the same thing. The circumstances and events that take place in our lives help make us who we are and bring out the unique qualities in each of us. God reveals His love for us through these experiences. They define us and impel us to do certain things or to take a particular path.

Moses was a unique man who took a unique path and was a unique mentor. Moses’ name means “one who draws out.” [Pharaoh’s daughter] called his name Moses, saying, “Because I drew him out of the water” (Ex 2:10). While all the Hebrew male infants were thrown into the Nile, by faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command (He 11:23).

Moses’ life is an extraordinary example of health and well-being into old age, and yet he lived one of the most stressful lives in history. He was responsible for the downfall of Pharaoh. Single-handedly but supernaturally [[don’t want quotation marks]] Moses helped his own nation out of bondage to Egypt, and took them into uncharted territory and freedom with outstanding opposition from only his own people and his own family.

He left everything he held dear for a relationship with God. He knew God loved him. He was drawn by God’s call. After leading his people out of unimaginable oppression, he watched
