One morning, as I raced to school so the kids wouldn’t be late, I was exasperated by my own stress and was putting it on the kids. I finally looked at them in the rear view mirror, sighed with acceptance, “Oh well, if we’re late, we’re late. Let’s just enjoy the ride!”

It became a real-life metaphor whenever we would feel rushed. I don’t know what lies ahead, so I just enjoy the ride, each and every day. This is what I want to pass on to my children. As I live my life each day, waking up and finding meaning in all the details, things both scheduled and unexpected, I live each day with purpose.

God trains those whom He calls. And it’s definitely worth the work. It takes time and patience, so enjoy the ride.
